Think about what outfit your student will wear for school photos. Choose clothing colors that will compliment your existing decor in your house. For example, if your house interior colors are cool then go with cooler tones of clothing colors. Check with your school photo promo as to what color of background we will use on your school.

You can’t go wrong wearing clothing with neutral colors with pops of blush, light blues, light greens or greys. Stay away from reds and neons.

Make sure the outfit is free of stains and holes. You will need to give it a fresh wash and ironing up to a week before school photos. You can save time and drop it off to be dry cleaned 2 weeks before photo day.

Check with the school admin to see if uniforms are required. Often in the fall at our private and charter schools, uniforms are required because those are the photos for the yearbook. If required, check to see which color and which parts of the uniform are required, then choose your cleanest uniform.

Think about top to bottom what your student will wear. If you are required to wear a certain bow color then make sure you put the bow aside so you know where it is! If you’re required to wear a belt make sure it’s looking polished and that socks and shoes are the right color. While yearbook photos are not full body, sometimes we will take full body photographs to have as options for purchase.Choose the cleanest uniform so that your photos look put together.

Choose clothing for your school photos based off of your existing decor. This will ensure a seamless addition of your school photos into your space.

Rest well the night before! Brush your teeth, comb and style your hair. If your child’s school will allow you to send outfits in for changing at the school then opt for this. Some preschools do this and all you can do is ask if this is a possibility. For preschoolers and lower elementary you can always pack an extra change of clothes for after if changing for photos at the school is not an option.
